“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams. A leader can be anyone in any position in life including the workplace. A leader is someone who inspires others. A leader has a strong understanding of a vision and supports, encourages and nurtures others to bring that vision into reality. Leadership involves building relationships and connections with those around you and inspiring others through personal connections. It is about vision, objectivity and support. A leader understands they do not have all the answers or all the ideas and therefore, values the unique contributions of others and provides a space for these to be expressed and valued. A wise way to use the authority that exists within a leadership role is to see it as something that can empower you to get things done. To achieve vision, reach goals and at the same time empower others to come on the journey with you.
